Creative Challenge 21

Good day or night, depending on when you are reading this! I was thinking about how it was time to put on my creative hat and start searching the internet for something fun and challenging for this week's creative challenge. Then, while looking at some photos I took, I had a thought: what if I created my own creative challenge? So that's exactly what I did.

the original

This week, I challenged myself to take a photo and see something in it that may not be obvious to the viewer, but that I can envision and bring to life using Photoshop. I took this photo using a filter on Snapchat and made sure to position my face so that when the filter aligned, it would look like the trees were my hair, framing my face.

After taking the photo, I edited it in Photoshop. I created pupils using the puppet warp tool, added a solid color background, and then used the paintbrush to give it some texture. I also added a gradient fill of white, changed the blend mode to dissolve, and lowered the opacity. Additionally, I included a greenish tint for a dual-tone effect. I couldn't decide which one I liked best: the version with the dissolve gradient or without it. Let me know which one you think looks better!

The 4 C's of Social Marketing: What Have I learned?

1).To successfully transition from content marketing to social media marketing, focus on making your content a topic of discussion. This requires active listening to understand target communities and their interests. Engage in conversations to gauge how your message is received and assess the effectiveness of your social media campaigns.

2).The success of content, like tweets or blog posts, in going viral depends on the interest and size of the target community. Utilizing social community analytics can help identify engaging topics and connect with influential individuals, fostering valuable conversations that resonate with the community and encourage sharing.

3).A lot of what we see on social media might seem like conversations, but they’re often just parallel monologues, with everyone talking over each other. To encourage real discussions, it’s important to share information and ideas that truly interest your community. Just posting self-serving tweets won’t spark a meaningful dialogue. Remember, it’s all about letting others chime in so we can all enjoy an honest and open exchange.

4).Social media channels have distinct etiquette, language, and technology for building communities and facilitating conversations. A social media marketing manager engages in numerous conversations daily, often needing software tools to handle the complexity of interaction among thousands or millions of users. Effective managers, akin to air traffic controllers, rely on advanced technology for managing multiple conversation paths.

5).Even the highest quality content can have little impact if it reaches the wrong audience. Conduct thorough research and select your distribution channels carefully. Aligning the other C’s with a cohesive message results in an effective social media marketing campaign.

Creative Challenge 20

In this challenge I found on https://www.behance.net/gallery/103558113/Photoshop-Daily-Creative-Challenge-8312020?tracking_source=curated_galleries_challenges, I was tasked with taking a mundane photo and adding drama and texture using effects.

I captured this photo on Thanksgiving

To enhance the image, I first adjusted the tone curve in Lightroom, focusing on the blacks, exposure, and reds.

Next, I applied various effects using the RAW filter, adjusted the levels, and added an oil painting filter to create texture and alter the overall vibe of the photo. I also incorporated a gradient overlay, reversing it so that the lighter part illuminated the darker edges while keeping the center, where the fire is, darker. Finally, I added a beveled edge to the entire photo to give it a raised appearance, as if it is popping off the page.

Learning About Design 9

I have always recognized that marketing plays a crucial role in design; in fact, I would argue that they go hand in hand. My experiences as a consumer, along with my recent efforts to design a logo for a friend who is new to graphic design and aspires to become a clothing designer, have reinforced this belief. I understand that one of the first steps in this process is identifying the target audience, and that networking and leveraging social media are essential for getting one's work noticed.
