Learning About Design 4

I have learned that LinkedIn is so much more than I ever gave it credit for. I now am excited to use it as another tool in my arsenal going forward, a powerful one at that. I have had a LinkedIn account for some time. I had known there was some hype to it and that people who were career-minded and looking to grow within their field could utilize the website as an aid to those needs.  But what I did not realize was, how it benefited a member and what features produced what results for them.

I have learned that creating a profile on LinkedIn connects you with a vast network of career-minded individuals looking to share their work, inspirations, and thoughts as well as post ideas and questions, share their blogs, and open doors via networking through the site. There is also a skill set assessment option that you can take that provides you with a certificate and proof you can back up the skills you claim to have. In addition, you can create a resume and post it as well as a cover letter, and find work in your desired field. I  can see why this is the number one used social media site. I fully plan on making the most of what LinkedIn has to offer.

Creative Challenge 9

This weeks creativity exercise was hard but kind of fun. It did indeed feel silly a bit but this excercise was a good way of forcing you to go outside your comfort zone and presents something we see every day like our hands in a different perspective.

You simply get a pen and paper and you stare at your hand for 5 min while staring at your hand you draw all the creases and cracks in your hand while never looking down at your paper and keeping the pen in contact with the paper until  5 minutes is up.  The results are interesting to say the least. I Gave it a try  and this is what i came up with .

Creative Challenge 8

Good morning! this morning I woke up and began to look as I do every week for something new to post for my weekly creative challenge post. I almost feel like finding a new creative challenge is more of a challenge than the challenges are :). But I came across this one and found it interesting I posted the images from the website you can read the full article here it's worth the read I do believe.

Learning About Design 3

I think there are some preconceived ideas I had about what graphic art and design entailed and what it took to be successful in that field.  I always felt creativity was something a person is either born with or something they developed as a child with influence and exposure to culture music and art. I thought that writer's block was a block or wall that made creativity come to a standstill that all artists come to experience it with time and that most people learn to overcome it and that they get through it. I know I have personally struggled with it a few times often from my insecurities or stress of time a time constraints. But as it turns out this is not true. Creativity is something that can be learned and practiced. The idea sounds almost crazy to me as I type this but as I have found evidence of and there is scientific proof this is a true story. weekly creativity blogs can be challenging at times but that is something I love.  I have found in doing these creativity challenges that I have created the blocks that have seemingly impeded my ability to create anything of value.   I have found many of the silly exercises to be fun and helpful and that simply changing my environment, meditating, and talking with children, the littlest things that we take for granted..  to stop and admire them, and be grateful for them.  I know when I do this my perspective is changed my mind feels free and inhibitions seem to melt away.

Learning about Design 2

I have always felt the urge to create and make art. Unfortunately, I wasn't encouraged to develop my skills or pursue a career in art. I was told that finding work in the field would be difficult, especially if I didn't move to a major city. As a result, I started to suppress my creative side, stopped drawing, and lost confidence. I ended up studying radiology, but I wasn't passionate about it. Eventually, I asked myself what I truly wanted to do and what made me happy. I rebelled against the opinions of others and decided to pursue a degree in graphic arts and design at Keiser University.

I began going to school for radiology and while there was a genuine interest in radiology it was not something I was passionate about.

One day I finally asked myself what I wanted to do i mean want to do? what makes me happy and what I enjoy. It was a feeling that was refreshing and I almost felt like I was rebelling against my parents as well as a few others I was close with in thinking these things. But, I decided this is my life that I am living for me and I make the choices as to what is best for me so I made one large choice and that was to go to a new school much different than what I had become accustomed to in my time at polk state and pursue a degree in graphic arts and design. My parents were not thrilled but they understood my reasoning and mostly supported me.

Now I have not been attending Keiser University long and life has dealt some serious curb balls and punches in my first few months there have been many times I felt like I should just give up. But I can and I won't. I have learned so much from my peers and my instructor who are all at various stages of a similar journey and I feel blessed to get the chance to interact with them and see how they grow as artists or designers seeing other students' perspectives and ideas helps me tremendously.  but I think time management is something that is a must to be successful as a student and any kind of career in this industry and so that is something I am currently working on mastering in both my academic and professional career.

I have learned the importance of meeting deadlines in the industry and it is a crucial part of any business being successful so all employees need to deliver on that 100% like a well-oiled machine.

My classes I have taken so far I can say I honestly would have loved to have more time in each of them the condensed 4-week classes are intense here and I enjoy them but would love more time I'm thankful for a professor who is patient beyond understanding and has a genuine desire to teach and puts in effort to see that each student succeed. I have learned so much in. adobe creative suites and I think that is what I have loved the most getting a chance to work with Cinmea 4D and After Effects was a treat I watched countless tutorials for hours on end and practiced till I fell asleep on my keyboard. to try and re-create what I envisioned and what I would find tutorials on in hopes of learning one of the many thousands of effects or camera angles and lighting combinations that when combined correctly produce jaw-dropping results. I have learned there is an entirely new amazing world of art and artists out there I never knew existed and above all else, I found there are thousands of positions. people who wants to pursue a career in graphic arts and design available from entry level and up. I can't help but smile as I browse the many employers seeking applicants with the skills I currently am working on obtaining because I got this and I know I can do this

Creative Challenge 7

This Week I chose a group activity that I found both fun and helpful with necessitating the creativity that once flowed abundantly but but seemingly died. It's called 1 X 5 strategy. You take 5 young students and provide them with an object.  The object can be anything from a writing utensil, to a piece of paper or even a random toy, etc.

Then you ask the first student to physically change one thing about the object

Next, you have the student pass the object to the next student in the circle and you ask the student to also change one thing about the object. This is repeated until all the students have had a turn

Once all students have changed and modified the item one time, you ask the students to reflect on the object How was it transformed? How does it appear now, compared to how it looked before the changes were made to it?  Have the students think about all the possible uses for the object now vs. before.

This exercise encourages the students to think outside the box. It also helps teach students the importance of working together. When you work with 4 or 5 people who are contributing their perspective and their ideas they have to work together to come up with a single idea that incorporates all input provided. In turn, this teaches students to work together as team players and as a group to achieve something that all agree on while simultaneously sharpening their active listening and communication skills. These skills are incredibly important assets when working in almost any industry, especially in Graphic arts and design.

Creative Challenge 6

Good Morning! I am yet again in search of creativity exercises. I am beginning to feel like I have seen all that the internet offers in ways of interesting and useful creativity-boosting ideas or exercises. Then I noticed something, there is a lot of mention about these creativity tests that are science-based or professional tests that are administered to measure an individual's creativity level.  The exercises would end with such and such test this exercise proved successful.

So I thought, huh? what better way to challenge my creativity than with a test that does just that? And with the added bonus of seeing how my creativity level (at this point at least)measures up against others!

So I found a few creative tests online for free. I have taken both and found that they were both fairly similar in terms of results but different in questioning style. I tried to choose ones I felt were most likely legit tests that accurately measured creativity but check it out in the link below. I'm interested to see what anyone else gets. I've posted my results as well.

Learning About Design 1

I've always been drawn to the world of art. It's funny, I used to be skeptical about digital art, but I have come to realize how mistaken I was! Thanks to my professor and tools like C4D and After Effects, along with numerous YouTube tutorials, I have delved into creating digital art myself, uncovering endless possibilities. It's amazing how my initial doubts have transformed into a deep excitement to share my digital creations with the world. The more I immerse myself in these programs, the more I am convinced of my past misconceptions about digital art - the irony is not lost on me! I am truly grateful for the hands-on experience I have gained both inside and outside the classroom, as well as the knowledge and guidance generously shared by my wonderful professor and classmates. My perspective on digital art and not just art but everything we see daily and the things we tend to overlook, have all undergone a profound change, all thanks to the invaluable use of After Effects and C4D. I found myself paying attention a lot more to little things I never gave much thought to before.

I've had so much information and knowledge shared with me recently. I sometimes feel I may not be able to digest it all, but I'm always hungry for more! there's still so much more to learn and grow, especially in an ever-changing world. I've delved into the significance of keyframing in animation and the effective use of negative space. I've also learned how to optimize my workflow in C4D by utilizing all four views and toggling between them to ensure precise alignment.

Additionally, I've learned how to use the spline and NURBS to construct diverse objects and apply various effects, opening up endless creative possibilities. The profound impact of lighting and camera placement on evoking emotions and how a scene may be a make or break if all elements are not added or timed correctly.

Now when I watch TV and a commercial or advertisement airs  or when I watch an animated movie, I can't help but think to myself, "Oh, I see how they created that." Wow, that must have taken a lot of work and time, it's so cool.

Creative Challenge 5

This is one of my favorite creative excerise.   This excerise is called alternate uses. I found this excerise and many other great ones online. The author of the article had pointed out that this excerise challenges participants to use divergent thinking and its fun.  You begin by giving the participant an everyday item or object then you explain thru have the minuits to come up with as many alternate uses as they can abs write them down.

I chose a phone charger.

I came up with the following alternate uses.

1. Tie something up

2. The prongs to be used as flathead to tighten a screw.

3. The box to be paper weight.

4. The copper wire to create new electric connections fix other charger.

It's hard ;)

I found this excerise on.

Creative Challenge 4

This week I found an interesting creative excerise.  Based on concepts from Betty Edward’s book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain and suggested by Lori McNee of Fine Art Tips.

 https://www.artworkarchive.com/blog/7-fun-exercises-to-quickly-improve-creative-thinking

This particular excerise is suggested to challenge your brain and has you flip your work upside down, litterally. You begin by finding a picture of a face , turn it upside then while focusing on shapes and light and dark  you are able to get a new perspective .
